Hello,

I am in WA state and currently working for OBGYN office, lately Aetna has been denying the 76830 w/ICD-9: V25.42 as "investigational" has anyone else ran into this problem?

Our providers will perform an Transvag u/s if the IUD cannot be located visually during an exam... not durong the normal post op IUD visits, but if a patient has a complaint, or is coming to have it removed and it was not located with the naked eye... any suggestions??

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Aetna changed their policies on this back in June, I beleive. You can find it in the policies portion of the web. I would use 996.32 if the string cannot be found on the exam to substantiate the need for the ultrasound.
