Hi, just have a quick question regarding gram stain results:
The report says:
"Gram stain showing gram-positive cocci in the chains and clusters. No pathogen was grown." Because the report says: "No pathogen was grown" I question coding A48.8 (other specified bacterial diseases)...do we still code this? Is showing gram-positive cocci sufficient to support the diagnosis of a disease, even when no pathogen is grown?
