Wiki Gluteus Medius Tear w/ Arthroplasty

Hi, one of my providers performed an arthroplasty, upon operative findings patient also had a gluteus medius tendon tear which was repaired. Codes billed were 27130 and 27299, does anyone know if the tendon repair is global to the arthroplasty? The insurance company is upholding there denial on appeal. Thank you

Can you post the redacted OP note? Tenotomy is bundles since the surgeon may need to release them for the arthroplasty. Repairs are not included per AAOS GSD. However, a general rule of thumb is that smaller procedures bundle into larger procedures when performed through the same approach. And a hip arthroplasty is a major procedure which is probably why they are bundling it.
