I have a patient that is in a global period for Fx care. She was admitted to the hospital for an entirely different reason. Ortho(our Dr that coded the Fx) was called in to see the patient because of the Fx...no change was found. Can we bill for the Dr coming in for the consult or would it be global? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I'm thinking you may be able to bill since its evaluating after a new admit/issue

no it is still global as the visit is still related to the fx.

Unless the ortho saw the patient for something unrelated to the fx the visit is included in the global period even if it was done in the hospital.
