Has anyone had experience with performing genetic studies on parrafin blocks of deaceased patients, for the purpose of treating a living family member with a condition suspected to be the cause of death for the deceased? We have a physician treating a patient with an infection thought to be the the initial cause of a condidion that the patients sibling passed away from at approximately the same age. The physican would like to determine if in fact the deceased had the same infection, and is questioning remibursement for this testing. Any insight on an experience with this would be greatly appreciated!
