Regarding Anesthesia billing: I have seen where our anesthesia providers send in their nerve blocks along with the procedure AND others send in their blocks on a separate record. What is the typical way to bill these out to get them paid. Should the procedure and the block be billed together? what about time, do the blocks ever have time entered on them? Some providers separate it out but others do not. What is the most efficient way to bill a block and get it paid. Also, if the block is billed separately to the procedure would you ever add the -59 modifier? I am use to billing it WITH the procedure but not on a separate record. Any input is greatly appreciated. Also if you know of any great resources that would also be helpful.
