Hoping someone can help me understand this one:
Endoscope was introduced through the gastrostomy and advanced to the 3rd part of the duodenum. The upper GI endoscopy was accomplished w/out difficulty. A 18 Fr 2.0cm 45 cm MIC jejunostomy tube was placed through the current percutaneous gastrostomy tube into the stomach. The endoscope was advanced through the pylorous into the 3rd to 4th portion of the duodenum. A guidewire was then advanced to the 3rd to 4th portion of the duodenum. Thereafter the GJ tube was advanced over the guidewire. Proper j-tube position was confirmed fluorscopcally.
Would this be coded as 49440 or 49441 or 49451? The dr wants to use 43820- but I don't agree with the description of that code vs his report. He didn't do any incisions or resect anything.
