Could anyone give me some ideas on how to get the 1 or 2 years of experience required by most employers when there seems to be not one employer willing to give a starving graduate a chance to get that experience?
I can understand your frustration; however, i'm also sure you can understand why a physician or practice may not want to hire a brand new coder as their business relies on correct coding... I also suggest starting in a billing position and learning the things school can't teach you. Another option is to volunteer your services that way more providers would be more willing to take you on as it takes a lot of time to train a coder but will provide you with experience and networking opportunities
