Wiki G0431 with 82570 or 83986 on the same day

Hi All -

Lab isn't my area of expertise and I'm hoping someone can help to provide documentation for my question....Can G0431 and 82570 or 83986 be billed together on the same DOS? There isn't a NCCI edit for these code combos and I can't find documentation to state why they can't be billed together on the same DOS.

There is no reason I know of that they can't be billed on the same day, as long as the documentation supports the services. On a side note, if you're billing 82570 & 83986 as part of validity testing, keep in mind that most payers consider this a practice expense and do not reimburse for it.

Walker is correct. You cannot be paid for those codes if they are for purposes of validity testing prior to a drug screen. If you look at the CCI 2015 manual they are excluded.
