Medicare allows 3 hours of medical nutrition therapy (97802, 97803) in first year of receiving nutrition and then 2 hours of medical nutrition therapy every subsequent year.
If the patient is seen in the first year and then does not have nutrition for a certain time frame (example: 3 years between last visit), do you know if the clock would reset so that they could have 3 hours of service again or would they always just be eligible for 2 hours after that first year?
