Wiki Fracture Types...infected and Comminuted

I know the definition of an open vs closed fracture, but sometimes my notes are a little fuzzy. So, if I see an infected fracture in the notes, is that always open, or can it be closed? My feeling is that it can be closed too.

Likewise, if I see a comminuted fracture in the notes, is it always open, or can it be closed? Again, my feeling is both.

Any help, guidelines, or educated opinions out there?
