I do billing for workers comp Indiana heres my question patient comes in physican dx is fracture xray are sent out to be read but its turns out NOT to be fracture-physican charging for fracture care initial visit since it was determined it isnt fracture care since xray report comes back-can i wait until that confirmed xray reports come back (either fx or not) then if its confirmed bill fracture care or bill office visit (non fx)-I hope this makes sense how i posted this question I'm hoping someone can answer my question thank you Melissa

Is this an orthopaedic physician? You should never bill a fracture care code until it is confirmed. Also, the physician has to treat the fracture such as casting, splinting or even buddy taping and plan on having the patient return for follow up exams during the 90 day global.
