We would like to know the specifications of fractures. What would the time frame be for fracture vs fracture care with 90 day global. Example a patient injured his elbow 3 weeks prior. He has come to an orthopedic office seeking treatment. Xrays showed a fracture of the elbow. Can the office bill for a fracture care with 90 day global period? Or would it be a fee for service given the time frame?

This may just be a case of office policy. I know in our practice, usually if the xray shows callus formation, and there is already healing taking place when the patient comes in, and we are not casting or bracing, or performing surgery, we do not bill for fracture care.
