I have a pt who was in an automobile accident 3.31.17. she was seen at the ER, was given a fx boot, and told to follow up with an ortho. She never followed up, and ended up calling to schedule with an ortho in our office (not the one she was originally told to see.) She saw our doc, new xrays were taken, she was told to remain in the boot she came in with , and follow up in 4 weeks. Would you bill fracture care for this pt? Thanks in advance!
 
That decision is made by the physician.

A physician can initiate fracture care, but that needs to be documented.

If the patient has never followed up with an ortho, yours can initiate fracture care if they want to.
