If a Dr sees a patient, reads the x-ray, determines a fracture THEN writes out a script for patient to get a cast/splint, etc. elsewhere is it STILL considered a fracture care and billable? I say yes but Dr wasn't sure so I wanted to get some info + articles on this type of situation.

Thanks.

If he is not going to treat the fracture, but refer the patient to another dr for treatment, he should not bill for treating the fracture. It sounds to me like he would be billing for a service he did not perform.

Thank you for the reply. I actually found something in the Pink Sheets that if a pateint is given a script for a cast/splint and returns for follow-up care to the Dr you can bill a fracture care.
