I am auditing a new surgery practice and the surgeon is billing code 51702 for foley catherter placement during his surgical prep of the patient. Is this a billable charge? I have never had another surgeon bill for this and I didn't think it could be billed separately. Could someone verify the correct way so that I can present this to the doctors.

Thanks,

Thank you Denise!

Your information was very helpful - it confirms what I thought, but also gives me the ammunition I will need to take to the doctor!!

Thank you again! :D
