Hello,
Can someone please help clarify the following:
When a radiologist is called into OR for fluoroscopy for an open reduction - Procedure x-ray wrist 2 view. The order is for fluoroscopy
1. Do we bill for the 2v x-ray?
or
2. Do we bill just the fluoroscopic time only?
As of now the reports are coming across with the following information:
Intraoperative open reduction right wrist
Fluoroscopic time - 31.1 seconds
3. If the answer is no to #1. if a full report was dictated would this qualify the procedure to be billed as a 2v x-ray?
Other reports are coming across with only (orders are for fluorscopy only)
Procedures: X-ray= Oper Cholangiogram or IR ERCP
Impression: intraoperative images is not for interpretation
Fluoro time : 13.5 sec
as opposed to other reports which are coming across as:
Exam: L Spine 2-3 v
Reason for exam: epidural steroid injection
Findings: two operative images, 19 sec flouroscopy time:
This was billed as 72100 which I had them reversed since there was not a full dictated report.
The conflicting factor that our radiologist are having is that some of the tests are ordered as studies( retrograde urogram or lumbar spine ) some are only ordered as fluoroscopy. In both cases the exams include fluoroscopic pictures of the anatomy and fluoro times.
Thank you
