On a daily basis we perform Fluoro in the Operating Room for procedures such as hip replacement, pin placement, halo placement, osteoplasty, biopsies, spinal procedures....... Our radiologist is not present in the OR room and no report is dictated. No professional fee is billed. Our Radiology Technologist is present in the OR and performing the fluoro, not the physician performing the surgery.
We are having deep discussion on how or if our department (Radiology) should be billing for the technical portion of the fluoro. Also, we are discussing rather we should be billing CPT code 76000 or 76001 since it states "physician time" because our radiologist is not present. Is the "physician time" referring to the physician performing the operation procedure?
