Can somebody please advise me of a code for exploration and closure of fistula tract in the knee? Thanks so much!
 
this is a tough one to give you advice on based on just what you have posted. My first guess is 27310 or possibly 27301, but would really need to see an op note to offer better advice.
 
Thanks. Here is what the op note states: The tract was opened and an incision was made over the previous incision. The tract was followed and was found to enter through a hole in the fascia. The fascia was opened both proxmally and distally and the capsule was found to be deficient with exposed lateral aspect of the prosthesis. This was at the level of the joint and both the poly on the tibial side and the metal from the femoral side were exposed. Clear joint fluid was evident. This fluid and some tissue were cultured both anaerobically and aerobically. The wound was irrigated, The capsule was close to the undersurface of the fascia and the fascia was closed with a running #1 PDS suture. The subcutaneous was closed with 2-0 plain with the deep layer of the subcut. closed with 0 PDS.
