Wiki Filing a claim for inpatient patient

I am trying to see how or even if you can bill if the MD rounds on the patient for example in the morning and the NP returns to see the patient later that evening (example reason for NP returning to see patient: Lab review/patient's family visit). Can you charge a separate charge for that visit from the NP or could you enter the charge with a modifier 76?

If the NP is of the same practice or specialty as the MD, these cannot be billed separately. The two services together would be billed as a 'split/shared visit' with a single E&M code that encompasses the documentation of both providers.
