Has anyone billed for services on a female born patient that now identifies as a male? Of course insurance denied stating procedure not compatible with patient sex.
Patient changed their sex ID to male. So we billed a hysteroscopy with bx and patient sex on the claim is male but patient body is female.
Besides a written appeal, any ideas on coding this differently? One of the office billers suggested F64.1 gender identity disorder
 
We had a patient like this and after many calls to the insurance company found someone who walked the claims through. They finally noted on the patient's account the situation and claims were paid.
