We are working on a new fee schedule at my job, and we are trying to figure out prices for services that have different reimbursement for NPs and MDs. What experiences do you have with this? Should there just be one fee for a service or should there be an NP price and and MD price?

It is my understanding that you should only have one fee schedule.

Mid-levels typically pay 85% of the Physician rate. The reduction will be done automatically by the payer.

I was under the assumption that there should only be one fee schedule, but could (and should) we do different Office Visit and lab charges for the MD and NP?

So, since the payer does the reduction, it shouldn't matter how much the fee is? They will automatically reimburse what is the percentage and then adjust the rest?
