This depends on many things. What insurance company? Does your facility have a contract with the commercial payers for dental extractions? You will need to contact the insurance carrier as to what their policy is regarding dental extractions.

In Alabama and Mississippi (which is what I have coded and have experience in), you would code the HCPCS-Dental Codes for extractions. Medicare does not pay for any dental extractions and therefore, should be coded 41899.

However, I cannot give you a good description of what to code until you learn what contract you have with the payers.
