would a facial zoster be considered highly complex? I have asked a few people in my office and some say yes and some say no. Now I am second guessing my thinking that shingles can be highly complex, especially when it occurs on one's face.

i welcome any input anyone has on this matter.

Thanks in advance,

Ashley

Are you asking regarding where it would fall on the table of risk? Which nerve(s) are involved? Is it the first division of the fifth cranial nerve that could lead to opthalmological complications? Even in that case, I don't see how it would reach high on the table - the highest I see is moderate. Antivirals are prescribed, possibly NSAID or corticosteroids for the associated nerve pain. It does not pose a threat to life or bodily function. Very painful but not life-threatening. (Speaking from experience - I did have shingles, on the face and head).

Hope this helps,
