Wiki Excision of lesion

The way I understand it is that you would take the hight of the lesion plus the margins(how far out they went from the lesion to start cutting) and that is your size to document. If the 4X5cm is height X width then you would take the 4cm and ask the provider what the margins are (for example .2cm margins would be a total removal size of 4.4cm).
This is how I understand it but this is also a topic that is confusing to me at times as well.

I spoke to the physician regarding this. He said that their weren't any margins around the lipoma. The lipoma was under the skin. They went through the skin and removed just the lipoma, no extra skin.

Thanks for your help
