Hi everyone! Help needed please!! I have a surgeon who performed removal of a frontal skull bone osteoma DX D16.4 (not performed in the frontal sinus, endoscopically or intraorally). Transverse incision made over the forehead mass and excised using an osteotome and mallet and the bone was then smoothed with a rasp. Any ideas... Already looked at 21026, 21029, and saw an article that said to use 61500! :eek: Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

It comes down to what was excised- if it was just the osteoma- they removed it and contoured the skull- I'd go with 21029. If they excise part of the skull (craniectomy) then I'd go with 61500. I believe from this brief note I'd lean towards 21029, but query the provider when it is unclear.

21029 states the it is a transoral incision. If the incision was not transoral 21029 would not be appropriate.

If anyone has any other information as to a proper code for excision of osteoma of the forehead, open apporach I would be very greateful.
