I am new to coding for an ER group and they think I should be able to bill for splints/braces of all kinds. I have found short/long arm and leg splints, finger splints, etc. but what about cervical neck braces and knee braces? Shouldn't that just be part of the E/M code somehow? They aren't even the ones applying them...they are just rechecking the nurse's work? What about slings?

Thanks so much. :)

Application of Splints

I have coded for the ER before and we never billed for the application unless it was our Phyisican. We never billed for the nurses applying the splint. We use an encoder system online along with our CPT books and the description in the coding system states everywhere that the cast has to be applied by the physician.
