Our staff physiatrist has begun doing EMG studies. There is confusion about billing code95860: CPT calls out 1 extremity, yet another office that we deal with bills out x units tested. In other words, if 6 muscles were tested they bill x6 units. Please advise.

We have always left 95860 as it is without any # of units. In the coding and billing guidelines it states only 1 unit can be billed for this CPT code. "One extremity with or without related paraspinal areas." Hope this helps!
