Hi all,
I am having a debate with some over an EGD with biopsy and dilation done on the same site. My opinion is that we cannot code since it is within the same anatomical site. Some are stating we can because the biopsy was done say at the upper end of the esophagus and dilation was done at the distal end of the esophagus. The esophagus is one anatomical site correct?
I am not comfortable billing both a 43239 and a 43248 or 43239 within the same anatomical site. I have researched this and cannot find a good article addresses this type of coding issue.
I would like to hear some feed back and if anyone has a good article and would like to share I would appreciate it.
Thanks
