Hello fellow coders! Tapping into your knowledge please! For an EGD, can a foreign body removal 43247 be billed along with bleeding control 43255 (Dieulafoy lesion) for removal of extensive amount of fresh blood and clots in the gastric body and fundus requiring basket and snare to remove the clots? The payer is Humana Medicare Advantage. I am unsure if clots can be considered a foreign body, but they are definitely not supposed to be there. Thanks in advance!

i dont think you can call blood clots a foreign body, as they are produced by our body much like ear wax. Maybe an op note would help

I agree with this. I would not consider blood clots a 'foreign body'.
