Is it appropriate to use E codes on office visits? Or should they just be used on facility coding?

As long as you do not use them first listed they can be used in any setting. With ICD-10 CM on the horizon, I encourage coders to not refer to them as E codes any more, call them external codes. The reason being in ICD-10 CM an E code is an endocrine system code.
