Wiki E-codes in icd10

There is no federal mandate to use the e-codes however they may be mandated by state, does anyone know where I can find out if they are mandated by Virginia? I emailed the Medical Society of Virginia but they did not know anything about it.

They are not E codes unless you were meaning the codes for the endocrine chapter which are all E codes. If you are referring to The equivalent to the ICD-9 CM E codes then you are wanting the codes for external causes which are the V, W, X, and Y codes. While not mandated there are instances where they will be required by state law, usually in the cases of people in institutional setting, like nursing homes and prison.
