Wiki E-codes for punctum plugs and medicare

Does anyone know if Medicare still takes E-codes(E1-E4) for each punctum. We have been using just right and left, due to usally it is only in the bottom punctums. We now have a pt that needs it in all 4 punctums.

Yes, Medicare accepts the E1-E4 modifiers. You should be using these instead of the rt lt modifiers. also, make sure your using the correct HCPCS code for collagen & silicon punctum plugs.

Just an FYI, Collagen plugs have a 10-day PO period (unless changed recently). if you will be putting in Silicon plugs after, then wait until PO period over or you won't get paid for the silicon. it would be considered bundled into collagen plug insertion.
