I would like to also post the same question on the Diagnosis coding.
If a patient comes in for her annual well woman exam and the provider orders a mammogram, would you code the dx for the screening mammogram secondary to the well woman code V72.31?
I have never coded for the mammogram order and don't feel it is necessary. It would imply that the provider did it in his office. But, maybe I'm incorrect.
Let's say the patient had a breast cancer history and the yearly mammogram is ordered, I would code for the breast cancer history, but, since this is considered a yearly MMG, I just don't think it is needed.
Could someone please help clarify this.
