Wiki DX 931 denied by Florida Blue as accident code

Hi!

We are getting rejections from Florida Blue stating DX 931 Foreign body in ear is an "accident related injury" code and needs an accident date...we are using this code with cpt 69200 - removal of foreign body external auditory canal. The physician is suctioning purulent material from the external canal. We just started getting this rejection in 2015....is anyone else receiving this rejection? Im wondering if it is in EDI issue with our clearinghouse Trizetto.

Florida blue denying "accident" codes

I work for an Allergist, and we give injections to patients who are allergic to bees/wasps/fire ants ...etc.

We have ALWAYS used 989.5 (toxic effect of Vemom) and have always been paid. Now (2015) WE are also getting the same denial " Claims Submitted with an Accident diagnosis must indicate if the accident was due to a work injury, and auto accident or other accident".

It is not an accident, it is their diagnosis. HELP! HELP! What dx should I be using?
