Need Help my coder Friends !!
Name of the Operation- Exploration and drainage of collection in the pacemaker pocket,left precordial region
Procedure- The generator was placed secondary to a history of syncope and symptomatic bradycardia. Post procedure, the pt was found to have a fluctuance and swelling of the pacemaker generator site and needle aspiration showed the presence of blood stained purulent material. Hence, the patient is brought in for exploration and drainage of the collection around the pacemaker generator.
Under general anesthesia,after a thorough prep and drape, surgeon made an incision over the recent scar.The incision was opened. There was blood stained purulent material that was drained.I thoroughly irrigated the site with antibiotic containing normal saline and replaced the generator back into the pocket as the patient is pacemaker dependent.
