Wiki Does the admitting Dr. have to be the one to discharge?

I have three doctors in my practice, and I came across a senerio where one of my Drs. admitted the patient, and another Dr. discharged the patient on another day. Can I bill the discharge 99238 for that day or do I need to bill a subsequent 99232? I read the guidelines, but found them confusing. Thanks.

You should bill a discharge on the date it was done by the provider that did it.

it does not have to be the same dr as long as the other physician is in the practice
