Primary Care provider orders lab panel for patient 6 months ago to have labs done before the follow up appt. Patient comes to lab on May 5 to have labs drawn for his May 19 scheduled appt. Patient now has new provider since the ordering provider retired on May 1.
Our system is not allowing us to use prior physician who ordered the lab for billing purposes. Should the patient's new primary care provider, add an addendum to his note referring to the former providers order for labs that he reviewed on May 19.
Can new provider be used on bill for labs?
