Wiki Doctor of Podiatry as First Surgical Assist?

Hello,

Can someone tell me if a Doctor of Podiatry is allowed to bill for First Surgical Assistant, which is general surgery other than Podiatry; Hernia repair, hysterectomy.....?

It has been my understanding that it is the DR's responsiblity know the scope of his liscense and what he is and is not allowed to do.

I certainly would not be afraid to code/bill it.....it will be paid or denied.

I actually have found that CIgna and Empire will pay for Podiatrist in role of FSA, but we were not sure for other payers, and other opinion always helps.
