This question was asked awhile back, I work for pain management Dr.s,
A bucal swab will be done in the office by our physicians and
sent to the lab for DNA testing. This test identifies how the patient metabolizes each drug. The physician uses the results for medication selection.
Is the bucal swab part of the E&M? the lab codes are 81225-81226 and 81230-81231, which is most likely billed by the lab?
Can I bill 99000 handling and/or conveyance of speciman?
