My surgeon gives a discount for people who are not covered by there insurance for plastic surgery. These are package deals. Is this proper as others who might need the same surgery (ie. medicare) for a non-elective reason do not get the package deal.

I work for a ASC and the package deals we give only to patients that are self pay(no insurance or surgery is not covered)...if the patient has insurance and we are contracted with their insurance we bill the insurance...no package deal would apply in that case.

Look at it in a way that their "package deal" is probably more than the fee schedule an insurance company would pay for the same services.
