I&D base of tongue abscess. Also a direct laryngoscopy was used.
Palpation of the base of tongue revealed several areas of fluctuance on right. 18 gauge needle was used to aspirate and a small laryngeal knife was used to open the wound. Loculated pockets and pus were identified and aspirated and opened on the right base of tongue. Oozing occurred. 15 cc of pus was aspirated or suctioned.
What would the CPT codes be?

I think that your only option is unlisted 31599. I would equate it to Laryngoscopy with biopsy, 31535.
