Hi everyone,
Ok I have a patient that had surgery for a retained IUD. They had tried to remove the IUD in the office, but when it was removed all that was found was the vertical arm of the vertical portion of the IUD but the arms were retained. The procedure that they performed was listed as D and C, hysteroscopy. There are so many codes for each, but I cannot figure out which to use exactly. Usually when I am using a D&C hysteroscopy code it is for a polypectomy or something along those lines, but I can't seem to find something that would fit for just a simple D&C hysteroscopy. The IUD was not found so nothing was removed. It seems like all of the codes I am looking at have information that I do not need or that does not apply. Can anyone shed some light on what to do?
Thank you !
