Doctor for nephology wants to know if he can bill critical care for dialysis treatment. I've read that critical care can only be billed with dialysis only if if organ failure or systemic infection occurs during treatment. Does he just bill prolonged services if everything goes fine? I appreciate any and all comments!!:confused:
 
No double dipping

You cannot double dip ... the time spent providing critical care to a critically ill patient must be EXCLUSIVE of any other separately billed services.

So No - you cannot bill critical care for the same time frame you are billing dialisys treatment.
