What is the appropriate coding for the following:

Would you code this as: 250.50 with the manifestation being 362.01? If you have any guidance, I would appreciate it!

If no actual menifestation is provided, I would code only DM - 250.00 with additional code per other description if any.

If retinopathy is documented as the issue and the provider documents that it is due to the diabetes by stating diabetes with opthalmic manifestations, or retinopathy with diabetes, or retinopathy due to diabetes and also documentes the type of retinopathy then yes you code it with the 250.50 first and the retinopay code secondary, it is all very dependent on the documentation.
