diabetes dx after transplant?
We have a patient who has had a kidney and pancreas transplant which "cured" his diabetes (his a1c's are withing normal ranges). However he has neuropathy in his lower limbs and some eye issues that are a result of having had diabetes for many yers of his life.
My question: Can I still code such issues as "diabetic neuropathy" or "diabetic retinopathy" if he is not currently a "diabetic"?
I ask because Medicare will pay for eye exams for a diabetic and he certainly has eye problems from his past diabetes.
Thanks in advance for your help!
