What ICD codes are appropriate to use for a child coming in for an Initial
Exam, and if a Dental Carie is found. Can 52100 be the primary Diagnosis?
Thanks - Elvira

Are you going to be billing the dental for both procedures?

If the child is a new patient and your doctor is going to be performing a comprehensive exam, you could use D0150.

Keep in mind, you will be using up one of their annual allowed visits a year, and the patient's are not always happy about that, however, there is not much you can do about that. As an oral surgery practice, we run into this all the time.

As for the procedure, there could be several options depending upon what they are going to be doing.

Hope this helps:)
