I need help on this op report. Such a large area, I'm not sure if I'm figuring out this correctly.

Preoperative/Postoperative Dx: Epidermal necrosis, Right Thigh

Procedure Performed: Debridement, Right Thigh

The patient was placed supine on the operating table, and the right leg was prepped and draped. A #15 blade and curettes were used to aggressively debride all necrotic tissue into the subcutaneous fat. Total surface area measured at least 30 cm x 40 cm. There was no evidence of fascial involvement. The leg was copious irrigated with warm normal saline. Idoform and aborbent dressings were applied. The patient was sent to the recovery room in guarded condition.

11042
11045 x???

Thanks for your help.

If the size is truely accurate then I would bill as follows:

11042 x 1
11045 x 59

You times the width by the length to get the total sq cm.

Per the what you supplied this would be 1200 sq cm.

I hope that helps. I think I would query the provider before billing it out though. :)

Thanks for your help, that is what I got but I wanted to make sure I was figuring it out correctly. I surely will ask my doc if this truly was the meausurement before I bill the claim. Thanks again for your help.
