Hello,

I was hoping that I could get clarification on the correct codes to use for this procedure? Also, would the wound vac be a separate procedure (97606)?

PROCEDURE PERFORMED: Debridement of skin and subcutaneous tissue measuring 20x10cm, evacuation of large hematoma.

PROCEDURE IN DETAIL: The patient was brought tot he operating suite and placed in supine position with arms extended. The patient's correct site for procedure were confirmed with a preoperative time-out. Use of IV antibiotics was deferred as the patient was already on Kefzol. The patient was sedated and anesthetized, successfully endotracheally intubated. The patient's left leg was prepped and draped in the usual sterile fashion and began by debriding the numerous blisters he had.

The underlying skin showed some areas of full thickness eschar. The was debrided exposing a large, 18x20 cm hematoma. The surrounding skin was debrided until the wound edges were bleeding. The wound was irrigated with 2 liters of normal saline plus 1,000,000 units of bacitracin. A large wound vacuum-assisted closure was placed and put to intermittent suction. The patient was awoken, extubated and transferred in stable condition to the post anesthesia care unit.
