Wiki Debridement and facial nerve monitoring

MD needs preauth for "Debridement of left ear auditory canal with stapes cuvettes and facial nerve monitor for cholesteatoma in left external auditory canal".
(Cuvettes might be typo for curettes for scraping)
Anyone have a CPT?

There is no code for debridement of an auditory canal. The only ear debridement codes we have are post mastoidectomy. An unlisted code can be used and possibly equated to post mastoidectomy debridement in box 19 for pricing. Facial nerve monitoring is usually not separately coded with procedures by the surgeon. The facial nerve monitoring can only be coded and billed if another provider, other than the surgeon is doing the monitoring.
